The campus for Trinity College, located in Hartford CT, was designed over the course of several decades with great involvement from the Olmsted Firm. Frederick Law Olmsted first advised on the location of the college, visiting ten sites for the City of Hartford and University Board of Trustees. Discussing the benefits of his final three selections, he noted “their convenient proximity to the present centre of population of the city” and that “each may be reached by convenient ways”.

Olmsted favored considerations were Blue Hill, Rocky Hill, and Thralldue to their “greatest apparent eminence”. However, Olmsted’s selections were not chosen by the President of the college, and the campus was placed on a piece of property in the outskirts of the city.
