This project site, now known as the Richardson Olmsted Complex, was designed as the State Asylum in Buffalo. The building complex designed by Henry H. Richardson is now a hotel and convention facility set in what remains of the Olmsted designed landscape. The site was designed in connection with neighboring Delaware Park and Forest Lawn Cemetery (plan 00612-7) and thus is an important part of Buffalo's overall park and open space system. (Note: The filing system of the Olmsted firm assigned 00612 as the Job Number for the correspondence for the Bloomingdale Asylum (01323) in White Plains, so a link to that correspondence can be found under 01323.)
See job 12035, for additional information. These two jobs represent the same site and indicate the Olmsted firm's involvement in designing the grounds in 1872 .
