Frederick Law Olmsted and J.C. Olmsted designed the private estate of EW Gurney from 1881-1884. While the project was never completed to vision due to the unexpected death of Ephriam Gurney, the property still reflects some features of the Olmsted plan. Most significantly, the firm proposed the construction of a retaining wall to separate the house and steep hillside.
