The Newport Hospital project is one of several subdivisions designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and John Charles Olmsted within the Rocky Farm neighborhood of Newport, RI. Commissioned in 1886, the pair drew plans for a residential community located on land owned by the Newport Hospital and Newport resident George A. Richmond. With 232 acres between the two properties, the Olmsted plan included 57 housing lots bordering the Atlantic Ocean, Lily Pond, and a bathing beach along Almy Pond. The firm continued their work on the project in 1895, planning the layout for the Newport Hospital. The job includes a plan for the administration building and correspondence discussing the design and plantings of the Newport Hospital grounds (01039-2).
