The Olmsted Firm played a significant role in the development and design of several Newport private estates between the years of 1880 and 1913. Drawing plans for the Newport Land Trust Company, Frederick Law Olmsted designed the layout for a residential community on Newport’s Easton Point. The tree-lined neighborhood plan featured 104 single-family lots settled upon the coastal bluffs as well as amenities such as a bathhouse and tennis court (Plan 01070-15). Today the historic peninsula features colonial homes, many of which were restored in the 1970s.
In collaboration with the Newport Improvement Association, Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. prepared a 1913 report detailing proposed road and park improvements for the city.
