synopsis
F.L. Olmsted was hired in 1889 by the Redstone Town Land & Mining Company to prepare a plan for the lake and surrounding village in Perry Park. Although Olmsted recognized “the distant landscape is not only sublime in its vastness, but full of delicate ethereal beauty”, the mountainous region was dry and lacking proper irrigation.
