The grounds of the Kansas City Memorial Library in Kansas City, MO were designed by the Olmsted Brothers in 1927. Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. wrote his concerns as “the space between the Memorial and the Station presents certain physical conditions, practically unchangeable…which raise grave doubts as to whether any feasible treatment would be so satisfactory in its appearance.”

Clyde Nichols_03-04-1927_LOC-OAR-B-R59_im.6] Despite these hurdles, FLO Jr accepted the invitation to propose plans for the surroundings of the Memorial. New grading as well as a planting plan featuring trees, evergreens, and shrubs helped to complete the project.
