The Olmsted Brothers created a preliminary plan for Chickasaw Park in 1923. The only park for black residents of Louisville, the landscape is significant in its representation of the history of segregation in America’s south. The plan included several recreational features for the 61 acres, including a tennis court, wading-pool, pavilion, playground, and several ball fields.
