synopsis
Established in 1868, Ruggles Park was re-designed by the Olmsted Brothers in the early 20th century. Simultaneously working on improvements to the neighboring South Park (01605), the firm re-designed the 9-acre park from 1903-1904. A preliminary plan (1604-7) shows four corner entrance points into the rectangular plot and shaded meandering pathways along the outer border.
