The Olmsted Brothers firm prepared a subdivision plan in 1900 for John B. McFerran for his Alta Vista trotting farm and estate on a plateau above Bear Grass Creek near Cherokee Park. The principal roadways of the subdivision, Maple Road and Alta Vista Road, retain their form except where Alta Vista road was straightened when Interstate 64 cut through the northwest portion of the property.
