synopsis
As one of the Metropolitan Water Board's projects involving the Olmsted Brothers, the Massachusetts Metropolitan Water Works (MWW) Photograph Collection, 1876-1930 contains post-construction photographs documenting the completed landscape the firm recommended. Arthur A. Shurtleff, later known as Shurcliff, was the lead for the Olmsted Brothers firm on the Wachusett Dam project and made recommendations about numerous details related to the dam and its associated structures and how they fit into the overall site, The carriage bridge over the spillway is one example of his work (plan 02075-64).
