synopsis
This Olmsted-designed 12.69 acre park has continuously served the community on the east side of Newark for more than 110 years, providing facilties for recreation and play as well as walking paths. It was renamed Independence Park in 1928 and the Olmsted firm was asked to prepare new grading and planting plans in 1929.
