The Olmsted Brothers drew preliminary plans for the improvement of Grant Park in 1904 (plan 02741-10). John Charles Olmsted made a visit to the Atlanta, GA, park in 1909, and added notes to modify walks and plantings to update the park, explaining the plan ”in general is to plant largely in borders individual plants that will not alarm the neighbors too much with the idea that their views into the park are to be completely blocked, but of such sorts they will be pleased with them as ornamental.” [Visit by JCO_10-16-1909_LOC-OAR-B-R97_im.11] The firm suggested locations for recreational facilities across the 100-acre park such as tennis courts, children playgrounds, and baseball fields.
