In 1905 J.C. Olmsted visited the site of A. C. Bartlett’s property in Lake Geneva, WI. Later that same year he prepared a preliminary plan for the grounds of the property (plan 03038-8) and advised that the home ‘be placed with its southerly front approximately parallel with the shoreline…a condition which is almost essential to a well balanced view and and to afford a feeling of harmony in the relation between the house and the lake.”
