Licton Springs Park was an Olmsted-planned subdivision which included a central attraction of two mineral springs. The organic layout of curving streets, homesites and rustic park was never fully realized. Besides the mineral springs, the parkland was to include two ponds linked by a stream, a forested heart and interwoven drives, paths and bridges. Today remnants of this scheme remain.

The springs were sacred to the Duwamish people. The surrounding land became part of pioneer David Denny’s farm, and from 1935-1960 housed a small spa until the park site became public in the 1960s. In 1908 when Olmsted was working on Green Lake Boulevard (02714), he suggested that the Park Commissioners might want to secure rights to the water from Licton Mineral Springs in order to supply Green Lake with fresh water.
