The Citizens Committee on City Planning hired the Olmsted Brothers in 1924 to propose improvements for a new project called the Nine Mile Run park. The 240-acre stretch offered “a park opportunity of very unusual and high value, partly because of the natural beauty and variety of its landscape, partly because it provides ready isolation from the nearby closely built up city.”
