First established in 1882, East Rock Park underwent improvements by the Olmsted Brothers in 1916. The project was first discussed in the Olmsted 1910 City Plan for New Haven and is one of New Haven’s most prominent parks. They proposed several decorative elements throughout the East Rock Rose Garden and advised on a dam and sewerage system near the Mill Valley River in the park.
