The 70-acres of Lewis Fulton Memorial Park were planned by the Olmsted Brothers in 1920, following the request of Waterbury, CT, resident William Fulton and the City. Edward Whiting visited the site and recalled “it is a rather attractive piece of ground with a small stream running through it, a small pond just above the reservoir, a low lying, more or less marshy area…”
The 70-acres of Lewis Fulton Memorial Park were planned by the Olmsted Brothers in 1920, following the request of Waterbury, CT, resident William Fulton and the City. Edward Whiting visited the site and recalled “it is a rather attractive piece of ground with a small stream running through it, a small pond just above the reservoir, a low lying, more or less marshy area…” [Report by Edward Whiting_01-07-1920_LOC-OAR-B-R330_im.2]The preliminary plan included a ball field, picnic grove, swimming pond, bird sanctuary, and meadow (plan 06780-47). It was designed in true picturesque style, with rolling landscapes and several leisure and recreation features. The park was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
