synopsis
James Frederick Dawson designed this still essentially intact landscape with adjacent site (job 08092), owned by J.F. Douglas' brother. Grading and plantings exploit the steep site’s panoramic Puget Sound vista and irregular shrub beds flank a sloping central lawn. To the south a woodland garden interweaves a chain of pools and cascades.
A series of formal beds, from fruit orchard to vegetable and cut flower gardens, line the north edge and terminate at a pool and circular perennial garden. The design combines strong lines, abundant plantings and contrasting landscape experiences.
