In 1930, E.C. Whiting of the Olmsted Brothers advised Mrs. Plant on the Rock Garden and steps to her terrace, recommending stone from Weymouth Stone Quarries for the steps. Mrs. Plant was taking charge of the formal garden, and, as she was in quite a hurry to get the planting underway, Whiting recommended she continue with the projects and call upon the Olmsted firm when she needed consultation.
