Description
The view shows the bridge carrying the circuit drive over Scarboro Pond in Franklin Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted beginning in 1885. The “Country Park” section contained Scarboro Pond and a series of connected pools, the open meadows of Nazingdale and Ellicottdale, and the rocky woodland of the “Wilderness.” Other sections of the 500-acre park were the Playstead, designed for team sports and large crowds of spectators, and The Greeting, a formal promenade. - C.E. Beveridge {Vegetation - Circuation - Water Feature - Structure}
